This Privacy Policy describes how Kurtz & Boon LLC, operating Saga Spark at https://saga-spark.com, collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. By using Saga Spark, you agree to this policy.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign up, we receive identity data from our authentication provider (Clerk), including your user ID, email address, and profile settings. If you sign in through Google, your Google account email is used as your identity — no separate display name is required or collected.
If you contact support or submit a form, we receive the content of that message and any contact details you provide.

Project and workspace content

Story drafts, chapters, scenes, synopsis text, notes, characters, locations, items, plot threads, tasks, and template progress you create or save in the workspace.
Project metadata such as titles, status, creation dates, and settings you configure.
Trash and restore actions, including the timestamp of soft-deleted projects.

Operational data

Usage records such as feature access counts, AI review runs, and quota consumption.
Server logs and error data used to diagnose issues and monitor reliability.
Approximate geographic region derived from your IP address for security and abuse prevention (not stored as precise location).

How We Use Your Information

To operate the service

Authenticate your identity and maintain your session.
Save, sync, and display your projects and workspace content.
Enforce plan limits, manage soft-delete and restore behavior, and process account actions.

To improve and support the product

Diagnose errors, monitor service reliability, and investigate abuse or security incidents.
Respond to support requests and questions submitted through contact forms.
Improve product features based on aggregated, non-identifying usage patterns.

To operate optional AI features

When you trigger an AI review, selected draft text and relevant project context are sent to the configured AI provider to generate the requested output.
AI review results, summaries, and findings may be stored in your workspace so you can revisit them and so later reviews can use prior context.
AI features are opt-in. If you disable AI assistance, no new AI review requests are made and no draft text is sent to AI providers.

Service Providers and Third Parties

Authentication

Clerk handles sign-up, sign-in, session management, and account security. Your credentials and identity data are managed by Clerk under their own privacy policy.

Hosting and database

The Saga Spark API and database run on infrastructure hosted on Hetzner servers managed through Coolify. Project and workspace data is stored there.
The web application is hosted and delivered through our chosen hosting provider.

Payment processing

Billing and subscription payments are handled by Stripe. When you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment details are entered directly into Stripe's secure checkout and are never stored on Saga Spark servers.
Saga Spark receives only non-sensitive billing metadata from Stripe, such as subscription status, plan tier, and renewal dates, to manage your account entitlements.

AI providers (optional)

When AI assistance is active and you run a review, selected content may be sent to one or more AI providers. Current and past providers include MiniMax, Anthropic, and DeepSeek.
The specific AI provider used may change as the product evolves. Providers receive only the content needed to fulfill the review request.
We do not sell your story drafts to AI providers for training. Providers' own data handling is governed by their respective policies.

What we do not do

We do not sell your name, email, or story content to data brokers or advertisers.
We do not share your workspace content with third parties except as described above or as required by law.

Retention and Deletion

Active data

Account and project data is retained as long as your account is active and the data has not been deleted.
Deleted projects enter a 30-day trash period, after which they may be permanently deleted. You can restore or permanently delete them yourself at any time during that window.

Account closure

If you close your account, we will process deletion of your personal data subject to any legally required retention periods for billing, tax, security, or compliance purposes.

Security

Safeguards in place

We use authentication, access controls, encrypted connections (TLS), and server-level protections to protect your data.
Account sessions are managed by Clerk, which applies industry-standard authentication security practices.

Limitations

No online service can guarantee perfect security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for reporting suspected unauthorized access.
In the event of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Your Rights and Choices

Access and correction

You can view and update your account information through your Account settings at any time.
You can request a copy of personal data we hold about you by contacting us at inquiry@saga-spark.com.

Deletion

You can delete individual projects from the dashboard. Projects enter a 30-day trash period before permanent deletion.
To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, contact us at inquiry@saga-spark.com.

AI opt-out

You can disable AI assistance at any time from Account preferences. When disabled, no new AI requests are made and no draft text is sent to AI providers.
Disabling AI does not delete previously stored AI findings or summaries from your workspace unless you delete them manually.

California and other state privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Residents of other states with applicable privacy laws may have similar rights. Contact us to make a request.

Age Requirement

18+ only

Saga Spark is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
This requirement exists because AI-assisted features in Saga Spark operate on user-supplied story content, which may include mature themes. AI output may reflect or build on that content in ways that are not appropriate for minors.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at inquiry@saga-spark.com and we will remove the account.

Changes to This Policy

Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves or as required by law. Material changes will be noted by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
Continued use of Saga Spark after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
For significant changes, we may provide additional notice through the app or by email.
